Concept, casting, delivery
01 · Brief
Kestrel had a new trainer and a budget built for one flashy launch night.
The category runs on single-night launches fronted by a well-known name: a week of posts, then silence until the next release. Kestrel wanted a longer relationship with the people who would actually run in the shoe, not a night that photographed well and ended there.
02 · Idea
Replace the single launch night with a five-city series run by local ambassadors.
Rather than one hero event, we recruited five respected regulars from local run clubs and gyms to test the trainer ahead of launch and host a community session in their own city. The product reached the community it was built for before it reached a press list.
03 · Execution
Five cities, five ambassadors, one shared programme, no two sessions alike.
Each ambassador built their own session around what their group already did: an early morning run, a Saturday track workout, a gym meet-up. Kestrel supplied kits and route support; the ambassador supplied the group and the credibility. Photography and video came from the sessions themselves rather than a separate, staged shoot.
04 · Outcome
The trainer sold out in all five launch cities before the national release.
Ambassador channels alone moved through their allocation ahead of the wider launch date, and requests came in from run clubs in cities that were not part of the original five. The ambassador structure has since become Kestrel’s standing model for every release rather than a one-off campaign.

In their words
“Our own community carried the launch further than the campaign ever could have.”
