01 · Brief
Vessel Studio’s modular shelving was hard to sell from a photograph.
The product’s whole appeal was tactile: how the pieces clicked together, how the modules rearranged for a different room, a feeling no catalogue image could carry. People needed to hold the pieces and put them together before the idea made sense, and the studio had no easy way to get the product into that many hands.
02 · Idea
Stop demonstrating the product and let people build it themselves.
Rather than a showroom demo, we ran hands-on pop-up workshops where small groups assembled their own shelving unit to take home. Buying the product became a two-hour Saturday activity rather than a checkout decision made from a photograph.
03 · Execution
Three cities, one weekend each, twenty seats a sitting.
We rented a small studio space for a single weekend in each city, running four sittings across the two days. Studio staff guided each group through the build table by table, and every guest left with the finished piece rather than a receipt and a delivery date.
04 · Outcome
Every seat sold out before the tour reached its second city.
Waiting lists formed in the second and third cities before the pop-up had even arrived, and conversion from the workshops ran well ahead of any online campaign the studio had tried. The series has continued as a standing quarterly event rather than a one-time tour.
